More Matryoshkas

This summer I introduced you to my first finished matryoshka (aka Russian nesting dolls), here.
Well, time has surely passed and two more are finished.
:)
The newest one I did, paid homage to the sun.
(Back)
The smaller they get the harder it is to get more detailed.
I really think I need to get some tinier brushes soon.

The next one I used the sunflower,(my favorite flower), as my inspiration.

I decided to alternate between open and closed eyes, to keep it interesting.
I like her green leaf head-piece quite a bit.

So only two more to go!

WOO HOOO!

Hope your Monday was great!

Yodeling Angel

This angel had been hanging on my wall with a different face for some time.
I decided to paint over it and so this is the result.
She is singing in a comical little face that made me chuckle after I finished painting it.

She is rather humorous, no?
:)

I thought I'd share a little photo of Rosalinda 'helping' my mom pin a quilt.
Cats are good like that.
Happy Monday!

Clay owl

I finally got around to finishing this little owl. It is a real treat to have it done! If you remember this post, all the way back in August, that I showed you its relatives so to speak, as they were made all on the same day. Well, this is one of those 'other things I have not finished yet' that I mentioned, but now it is!
It is really tiny.
I gave it to my brother Michael, and really I had him in mind when I made it.
He took one look at it and said "Is that mine?"...
I guess somehow he knew.
I like how it looks somehow inquisitive.
Happy Sunday!!

Late Night Painting

I have been working a whole lot and this had been resulted in trying to create things late at night. I have been doing a little of everything into the wee hours of night. As you can see also had to take these pictures late as well, so they aren't the best quality. Woops.
I found this watercolor book at Hobby Lobby a while back and was so excited! I couldn't wait to begin to paint, and so I did :)

This is the second page, a little owl carrying a basket.

I have been wanting to make a crochet blanket for some time and just started making little blocks from leftover bits of yarn. While listening to my ipod, everything seems to go by so quickly lately. I can hardly believe summer's almost over.
I just started reading the second book by Muriel Barbery called Gourmet Rhapsody. I read The Elegance of the Hedgehog a while ago and loved it. I immediately set out to see if she had any books and viola I found another! I've read so many good books this summer, as well as some bad ones, but all in all this was a summer of delicous books.
Yummy reading :)
Better pictures to follow on Thursday.

Blue Owl

This little wooden block was painted for my brother as a gift just because he's the best brother a girl could ever wish for.
He and I both love owls so I thought he would like it.
I didn't realize until now that you can see paint on my hand.
*whoops*

I even painted all the sides with flowing organic shapes.

I painted it with blue, black, and white acrylic paint.
You can kind of see his initial M on the bottom in the above photo.

Hope your Friday is great!
I have been cleaning more and listening to Regina Spektor non-stop! Thanks to Jessica :)
