Quote for the Day

"I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colors. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns."

Pretty As A Peacock Doll

Well, here is my newest creation, actually made last week before my sewing machine acted up on Sunday...so as you can see it is a peacock.
Of course it is not your ordinary peacock, instead it has bright rainbow colors on its tail, huge golden talons, and little buttons as accents.
The tail took the longest to make, both the cutting of the individual feathers, and the handsewing of it...but it was well worth it in the end!
Below is the underside of the tail.
A close up of his face.
He loves the camera!
I accidently made one leg too long and so as elegant as he appears, if he is not positioned exactly right, he looks as if he is making a side- stepping- dance- move.
hee hee :)
Look into my eyes
Here he is looking down.
Well as you can see, this doll was quite time consuming, and when my sister Kaitlyn of My Baloney walked in on me making it, she just laughed at me. I' m not sure why of course, but maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was still in my pjs at 4:00 in the afternoon(having worked on it since 11:00 that morning), had pieces of felt strewn all over my room, had multiple bins out, every color of thread out in front of me, multiple pieces of material out in front of me-in order to choose the perfect piece for the underside of course, as well as bits of miscellanous crafting supplies like scissors, glue, and so on....
Anyhow, my little peacock is in desperate need of a name.
Have any suggestions???
Happy weekend!
XOXO,
Callie

Where the wild things are...

I drew this for my drawing class last semester :)

Done in colored pencil and pen.

I still haven't seen the movie Where the Wild things Are, but really want to... In fact I think it might already be out on DVD already so I'll try to rent it this weekend maybe.

Yesterday, I wasn't feeling so good so I didn't get around to taking pictures of the project I mentioned in my last post, but have no fear it will be coming!

Happy Tuesday!

XOXO, Callie

Happy Sunday!

Little bits of my life

This week is going by really fast, so here is a quick run-through of some things I saw so far...
(in photos)
Sunflowers in our living room, which are my ultimate favorite flower.
The first sign of spring?!
Schatzi, trying to nap, but reluctantly letting me photograph her again.
And little Ranger, looking too cute for words :0)

How is your week going?

Forest Friends Drawing

Here is new drawing I did, which I used on my post in Diamond in the Rough but haven't shown here... so some of you may have already seen it.
But anywho, here it is, drawn in colored pencil and pen, a trio of little forest friends crocheting/knitting.
My sister Kaitlyn of My Baloney has another wonderful post to share, so be sure to stop by and check it out.
I woke up thinking of this song by Florence+the machine, so here it is!

Snail Mail Love+ New Creations+ Randomness

I love snail mail.
It never fails to amaze me, especially when it contains a gift for me!! This little magnet came in the mail a few days ago. Its creator was the very talented Carly of A Girl and Her Blog. She had told me that she was sending me something in the mail, and I have been anticipating it for some time...and boy did she deliver!
I love it! She made it herself, gifts from the heart are the best of all.
It is already hanging on my magnet board in my room, and fits perfectly. Thank you Carly!!
I mentioned a while ago that I have been making things and here are some of them...
Toast pins! Whole grain and white bread, because everyone needs a little toast in their life :)
All hand stiched with love.
Another scarf! Yes, I know...how many scarves does a girl really need you ask? Well, I say one can never have too many. In reality I made this one because I really loved the one I made for my mom for Christmas and kept borrowing it so much so that she didn't really like the fact that it kept mysteriously dissappearing on my neck. So...when I saw this ball of Noro Taiyo in the Tinsmith's Wife in Comfort, I just knew what to make with it.
It practically flew of my knitting needles! I bought it on Friday and was finished with it by Sunday. This is saying something for me because knitting for me has been rather slow going. I made it with the same pattern, Easy Drop Stitch Scarf Pattern, available here for free.
On of my favorite parts of the scarf is the rather random streak of orange and yellow, only in one place in the entire ball.
Also, you may have noticed my new blog badge!!
Ta -Da!!!
What do you think?

Happy Tuesday, happy belated Valentine's day, and happy belated President's day...

Today is Friday!!

WOO HOO!

I am rather happy the week is over it was all rather gloomy and rainy here all week long. I was longing for some color and so I solved that by using bright colors in everything I made. I call this color therapy; as it is sure to brighten anyone's day.
Also I have been constantly listening to Florence +the Machine non-stop, thanks to my wonderful sister Kaitlyn, of My Baloney.

Valentine's day is coming...

...so you can tell what inspired this drawing.

Drawn in pen and colored pencil.

Wednesday=halfway through the week.

Thank goodness...

I'm on Diamond in the Rough today!!

Hello everyone!
I am so excited to announce that I am on Diamond in the Rough today!! I would really like to thank Rhianne for asking me to contribute. It made me so happy to be a part of it, so once again thanks Rhianne.
Above is another one of my newest drawings which I used in my post, feel free to stop by and see them! Click! Click!
I just couldn't bear to not share you some pictures of Schatzi and Sheila 'helping' me make my bed :)
Schatzi is such a silly dog. She always makes this face when I try to take a picture...
Sheila tried to hide in my sheets as per usual and wouldn't come out for a good while, not only that but when I tried to get her out she attacked!
I still love her though, and I think she thought she was some wild cat out in the forest or something...who knows? One can never really tell with cats.

Can you see how well she was at blending in?

Daily Doodle

When classes bore me, I inevitably end up doodling on whatever piece of paper is near. Here is one I did last semester in my anthropology class. I am considering whether or not to color him in... what do you think?

Happy Tuesday!

My classes this semester are really frustrating me! I am not really enjoying them at all :(
It doesn't help that I am not taking any art/creative related classes. Darn! So I have been trying to do some creative things on the side and I have but it has been so gray and raining here that I haven't been able to take any good pictures... except of our cats! I actually have been making stuff and I can't wait to show you! But in the meantime you'll just have to enjoy:
Rosie taking a sun bath
Sheila getting a stratch on the chin :)

And big Maximo smiling for the camera!

Talk to you later! XOXO, Callie
