works in progress

This is a little sampling of my projects in progress. There are many more, although I don't care to admit it, but I am finishing up more and more, so there is hope! :)

This doll was started a long time ago and finished but she never felt 'right' to me. I decided to go back and change her up a bit. I repainted her face, crocheted her a hat, and am finishing up hand sewing her dress. I also have to make her some shoes, but for the most part she is almost done.

I really like how happy she looks now :)
The next project are socks!!!

This is the shawl I am making for my mom.
I actually have more done now but you get the idea.

I really love this yarn from Sweet Georgia, so soft and the colors are so vibrant!

I bought the yarn below while living in Germany after first learning to knit and loved it.
I haven't ever used it because partly of its sentimental value. Recently however I was missing living there and decided to give it a go.
I am just making a really easy cowl....
It is so fuzzy.
Really. You have no idea how soft and fuzzy it is.

I am making some bright yellow coasters. They make me happy!
I have one side done and the second started.

And finally a crocheted butterfly!
Might make this one into a pin.
Just winged making it.
Get it?
Winged!
Heee heee :)

So many projects, but almost done with many.
Here's to a great Wednesday!

My Very First Amigurumi

My very first amigurumi came from the book, Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet by Anna Paula Rimoli. Here is the link to her blog. I made the boy and girl elephant and loved it!
This one is the boy (obviously)...
His name is Maxamilliano.
Try saying that 10 times fast :)
Made this lovely elephant amigurumi in late 2008 I believe.

I changed the face because I didn't have the eyes and love altering patterns anyways :)

After I finished making it I showed my brother Michael and he told me that it could have come straight from a manga comic. Ahhh...gotta love my little brother.
He is very photogenic. No?
More crochet projects to come as well as a recap of the marvelous Renegade Craft Fair in Austin!!!! Toooooo goooooood for words, but in the mean time check out my sister's post about the experience.
Sweet Dreams!

Happy Belated Birthday Dad and New Creations!!

Happy Belated Birthday to the best dad in the whole world!!!!
Yesterday was my dad's birthday and we celebrated with cake and gifts. I love my dad so much and I sincerely hope he liked his gift which was this little dachshund doll.
I crocheted the little hat for him, since he seemed like such a stylish little devil :)
His scarf is an old ribbon I had which he told me was a must-have to complete his outfit...
The second part to the gift was this little pillow. This doll is shall we say very very long...
Another close-up portrait.
Once again happy birthday daddy, wishing you many more to come.
I love you dad!
Callie

Happy Thursday to everyone!

Pretty As A Peacock Doll

Well, here is my newest creation, actually made last week before my sewing machine acted up on Sunday...so as you can see it is a peacock.
Of course it is not your ordinary peacock, instead it has bright rainbow colors on its tail, huge golden talons, and little buttons as accents.
The tail took the longest to make, both the cutting of the individual feathers, and the handsewing of it...but it was well worth it in the end!
Below is the underside of the tail.
A close up of his face.
He loves the camera!
I accidently made one leg too long and so as elegant as he appears, if he is not positioned exactly right, he looks as if he is making a side- stepping- dance- move.
hee hee :)
Look into my eyes
Here he is looking down.
Well as you can see, this doll was quite time consuming, and when my sister Kaitlyn of My Baloney walked in on me making it, she just laughed at me. I' m not sure why of course, but maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was still in my pjs at 4:00 in the afternoon(having worked on it since 11:00 that morning), had pieces of felt strewn all over my room, had multiple bins out, every color of thread out in front of me, multiple pieces of material out in front of me-in order to choose the perfect piece for the underside of course, as well as bits of miscellanous crafting supplies like scissors, glue, and so on....
Anyhow, my little peacock is in desperate need of a name.
Have any suggestions???
Happy weekend!

Callie

Dolls of Wintery Delight

Last summer I made these winter themed dolls for a magazine submission which didn't pan out...but I still love them very much :D, so much so that I can't part with them just yet.

The first one is probably my favorite and the one I did the most for, as you can probably tell since he has a little hat, scarf, lace up boots, removable mittens, a pouch, candy cane, pencil, and hand bound/hand painted book. The giraffe was one that my mom suggested I make for it and I especially love the long eye lashes I gave it, makes it so feminine don't you think? And lastly the dachshund which ended up looking rather like a granny, I think, in its snowflake embelished shawl...

All in all I am proud of them even if they didn't make the cut. Wishing each one of my lovely readers their own wintery delights in the coming holiday season... Merry Christmas!
