My sister Kaitlyn was was quite descriptive about what she wanted for her birthday this year. In fact she chose exactly what I was to make.
Apparently smitten with Jessica's Ruby Red hat, she wanted her own. But in yellow. She chose the yarn and loved its softness (as I do!). It has this little halo of fuzz around it, that makes it seem like it is blurry. I love the finished product, as well as making it. This pattern is so great, even the second time around.
Happy Birthday sissie, glad you liked your gift.
XOXO, Callie
the magical bean
Have a great weekend!
(P.S. Sorry for my continued absence, I can't seem to get back into the habit of blogging... don't worry though, I will be coming back full force!)
(P.S.S. Here's a little song to enjoy, Someone Like You by Adele. Love!)
I thought I'd share a song I have heard recently and loved... It is Fools Rush In covered by She and Him. This was already one of my favorite songs and then to have them cover it just makes it perfect :)
This weekend was so much fun for me. School has really been wearing me down with all the homework I've had, leaving little time for anything fun. But this weekend changed that and I am glad for it! I finally got to do some crafty stuff which I will try to show you later when blogger is acting better. In the mean time, sit back and enjoy!
Yesterday I finally finished my last final!!!!! Wooooohoooooooo :)
I am so glad.
Sorry I've been gone again, but school got to be a little too busy for blogging. In the meantime I haven't been able to really work on anything creative except this amazing shawl I really can't wait to show you, except I haven't been able to take any pictures of it yet. I'll try to later today! Well, I've got to go get ready for the day!
What have you all been up to since I've been gone? I have a lot of catching up to do.
(P.S. I went to Borders with my sister Kaitlyn of My Baloney after class yesterday and found this musician called Lisa Hannigan, which I loved immediately. I can't get over how creative her videos are or her CD case for that matter which is the reason why I noticed it in the first place. I mean paper cut outs of a forest and a pop-up book?!? Love.)
Right. Well, it's been a good while since I last blogged.
And now I feel like I don't know how to begin again.
Basically I got a cold and have been in bed/resting/sneezing/and coughing quite a bit. And schools almost out so I have been finishing up papers and projects. I've finally finished all of that now, and only have finals left. I'm feeling much better now.
I've pretty much had the blues this past semester as none of my classes were fun or engaging with mean teachers to boot. :(
I only have a couple of days left and so I finally can breathe easier. It was weird not blogging, I kept thinking about it but had trouble knowing where to start again....so I feel like I need to introduce myself again so we can just start all over... :)
I'll start first.
Um... Hi. Hello. I'm Callie. Nice to meet you. What's your name?
These pictures were taken a few weekends ago after a thunderstorm in my neighborhood and backyard.
The rollie pollies were everywhere! Drip drop Anyone know what kind of plant the one is above? I'd like to know. It is growing like crazy in our yard.
This whole area is usually dried up but was a raging river after the rain.
This song by The Carpenters describes what I have been feeling like, although I do actually love rainy days.
I'll be posting some more in order to play catch up as it were and have somethings I can't wait to show you!
I had trouble sleeping last night and I kept thinking of this song over and over again...These past few days have been hard going back to school. I can't wait for the weekend!!
I can't even begin to say how much I like this music video. The stop motion, Fine Frenzy, the bird cage, the mustache, the scissors, the beauty of it all amazes me!!
" I claim this drawer of blue jeans as my own!!" Rosie proudly exclaims.
"Why yes I discovered it", she grins.
Checking the surrounding area for safety. " I run this country so no funny business,"says Rosita.
I believe Rosita thinks she has totally claimed and conquered my dad's drawer of Wranglers. I also suspect that she is under the impression that she blends right into the drawer... :)
Cats do the strangest things, but I still love 'em!
Happy Monday, and I have much to say about the past weekend, so stay tuned!
While in Austin last Friday with Kaitlyn of My Baloney, I found this bird figurine which plays the song "People Will Say We're in Love" from Oklahoma. I have always loved that musical since I was little so naturally I just had to get it...
I tried to upload a video of the music playing but it wouldn't load at all so I guess it will have to wait.
The seller conveniently put the song name on the bottom. I have been debating whether or not to remove it, not sure yet.
Then, we stopped by another store where there was this little bird bowl made in Guatemala and slowly after not even thinking anything of purchasing it, I realized something.
I might be just a little bit obsessed.
Maybe...
I might be obsessed with birds.
Maybe, maybe not.
I'm not sure what justifises an obsession, but after looking through my worldy possessions, my creations, my blog, and so forth a substantial amount is related to birds.
So I guess I am obsessed, but in a good way right?
Happy Tuesday!!
XOXO,
Callie
P.S. Be sure to stop by my sister's blog My Baloney, she has some seriously great posts out!
I am rather happy the week is over it was all rather gloomy and rainy here all week long. I was longing for some color and so I solved that by using bright colors in everything I made. I call this color therapy; as it is sure to brighten anyone's day.
Also I have been constantly listening to Florence +the Machine non-stop, thanks to my wonderful sister Kaitlyn, of My Baloney.
"The earth laughs in flowers"- Ralph Waldo Emerson
My mom bought gave me these carnations which have been sitting on my bedside table for the past week and are just now dying. I love fresh flowers so much. They brighten my day just by looking at them. I know a lot of people who look down on these flowers as being boring but I love them :)
They are ruffled little beauties to me...
My bed seems happier with my tree pillow from Little T Jane :)
...until Schatzi decided to take a nap on it.
I recently bought a new little Japanese juniper bonsai, complete with a little elderly fisherman.
Sheila likes to snooze in this corner of my room. She looks so cute like this!
Here is a photo of my in table complete with flowers and all.
I have been listening to this song quite frequently lately. I really like to listen to Jason Aldean and actually went to go see him in concert last Rodeo. Enjoy!
Hello! Why yes, I did procrastinate somewhat on my three page paper! Thanks for asking...
Ahem!
Anyways...
I have been listening to Ingrid Michaelson on and off all day today while trying to write a really annoying paper...still at it actually...but I do enjoy her music very much so that has made it somewhat easier. Today was spent *trying to write this paper* and thinking about all the things I would rather be doing like: 1. Drawing 2. Crocheting my sparkly white shawl that just keeps growing and growing 3. Making new dolls and pins 4. Cooking up some chocolate chip cookies and the list goes on...
But goodnight for now and I'll try and do a better post tomorrow :)
It's my birthday month!! That's right my birthday is next Tuesday the 26th!!! I am excited :) (in case you couldn't tell)
Anyways I was strolling through my favorites on etsy, admiring all the talent and wishing I or someone I knew had enough money to buy me everything I wanted...alas since this is not the case at the moment all I can do is admire and dream...these are some of my favorite things right now. So so so cute!
I find this bear rather endearing. Don't you?
I love squirrels!
An octopus? Knitting? And ADORABLE? Almost too good to be true
This picture above totally suits me because, number one I have red hair, number two I always listen to music while knitting or otherwise getting crafty. What's not to love?
Not so secretly I love MisakoMimoko. I love her dolls and wish that I could have one custom made just for me, maybe next birthday?
Also this song has been in my head ever since my sister Kaitlyn gave me a CD of Joni Mitchell hits for Christmas, and I have been singing it and humming it just about everywhere :) No joke. I just love it, and I am left wondering how in the world I could have gone so many years without ever knowing about Joni? Thanks, Kaitlyn, you seriously got me hooked.
P.S. Click on the pictures to see where I found them.
