Daily Doodle

I had this business card from one of my favorite stores in Austin, Uncommon Objects and I loved it.
The flowers, the gold, the faded patina, all of it.
And so I got to thinking how it might make a nice frame around a drawing.
And so meet the former business card of Uncommon Objects, after it had a run in with some trusty scissors, glue, scrap paper, pen and colored pencils.
Hope your day is fantastically great!!! :)

Pink Fox

I just finished sewing this little pink fox.
It was made from an old faux-fur stole that I had.

I made his tail a little too big for his body, but I think it adds to his demeanor.
He likes to pretend like he is flying :0)

Today was weird. I woke up feeling sick and so didn't go to my Spanish class, but instead stayed in bed for most of the day. Not the best way to start of the week, but here's hoping tomorrow is better :)
Have a great Monday!

(P.S. Feel free to listen to the fleet foxes while looking at my little fox.)
hee hee :)

Let's sail away papercut...

I cut this lovely little lady with an exacto knife last summer. I was inspired by Elsita Mora's amazing papercuts and wanted to try it out. I just found it again last night while cleaning up and thought I would share.
Here is the link for her papercutting blog.
I am so glad it is Friday, as this week seemed long and tiring and I can hardly count how many times I cried :(
Needless to say I'm glad it's the weekend!
Have a great Friday,

(P.S. Be sure to visit my sister Kaitlyn's two great posts about inspiring art and music. Also my sister Jessica made this ultra-creative and inspiring school project that I am blown away by, which she did a post about here. My sister Jessica's friend Caitlyn has a great blog, so stop by and say hello!!)

I just made this new Quant headband from a pattern I found on knitty. And I'm so excited!! Feel free to check it out ;).

This was my first time doing entrelac and I-cord and I thought it went pretty well (although I was a little skeptical at first :P).
Any thoughts?
I hope everyone is having a great day!

When the night kills the day

I had trouble sleeping last night and I kept thinking of this song over and over again...These past few days have been hard going back to school. I can't wait for the weekend!!

Have a great Wednesday! XOXO, Callie

Daily Doodle

Drawn in pen.
I thought I would show you what one of my drawings looked like before I colored in it.
I wish spring break could go on for another week. I don't feel ready to go back just yet.

Let's go for a walk

Let's go for a walk.

Let's go follow the shadows.

Let's walk among the trees.

Let's admire nature's gift of life.
And lastly, let's say hello to the deer.
I went for a walk (in case you couldn't tell) at our local park, with my sister Jessica yesterday.
It was really fun. We talked, and took pictures, and laughed.
It was really nice to see all the green finally.
Have a great weekend!

New Banner!!!

I just drew this new banner for my blog. I really like it.
It is an little brown owl, watering a garden of beans, and one of them is 'the magical one'.
I got the idea for this while running this morning, and thinking about what I wanted for a new banner, my mom's garden and my love of owls.
What do you think?
The one below is my old one.
I also just drew a banner for my older sister's blog My Baloney, be sure to stop by and tell her what you think.

Kaitlyn introduced me to She and Him recently and it is love! I already really loved Zooey Deschanel and it makes sense that I would like her music.
Also I wish that I could have her entire wardrobe and hairstyles...
I have been listening to this song, so I thought I would share.

First Ever Noro Socks

I finally finished my first ever socks from the class I took in Austin at Hill Country Weavers. The class itself was very informative and I really enjoyed it as a whole. I, of course, was the youngest gal in there, and managed to show up late unfortunately. So the only seat left was on the far side of the room, cramped in next to two lovely ladies who had all of their knitting supplies spread out across the area leaving me with very little room.
The teacher was really funny, and helpful and didn't make me feel like a nitwit when I asked her for help, which is always grand.
I used up about 1.3 balls of Noro Silk Garden for these, and actually made three socks but ripped out the first one I made half way through because it was rather too loose to my liking.

These socks are really, really warm, and I am probably going to use them as slippers instead of socks.
I am so proud of myself for doing these babies. I have been wanting to make socks for years, and just now took the plunge.
I already went with my mom to the Yarn Barn downtown and bought some sock yarn for some to come...
The ball of Noro seemed to be half purple/black and half green/gray, so these socks look like distant relatives but actually came from the same ball and color. They make me happy, since I usually purposely wear mismatched socks all the time.

One of the things I love about knitting and crocheting is that they are portable. I can do them in the car, while watching a movie, sitting outside, while talking, and the list goes on...
So sorry about the frequent knitting/crocheting/yarn related posts, for all you non-knitters/crocheters out there.
I am actually up to some things that aren't knitting related and I can't wait to show you.
Stay tuned!

Daily Doodle

I love the sun!
I drew this little sun recently for a card I sent out to someone.
Drawn in colored pencil and pen.
It kind of reminded me of a song I used to listen to, and my mom used to sing to us when we were younger "Mr. Sun".
This version is not the best but oh well, you get the idea.

Sorry for the lack of posts but I have spring break this week and so far have spent it helping my parents with the garden and with the remodeling of their kitchen...
Hope you have seen good old Mr. Sun, recently like we have here.

Chocolate Carmel Tarts + Lemon Tree

I made these Chocolate Carmel tarts from the book Chocolate & Zucchini... and boy they were good, really good in a dense chocolaty deliciousness kind of way!
They sure didn't last long.
And I have been seeing lost of inspiring photos of people's feet and knew I wanted to try it too.
These are my favorite socks!

My mom just recently got a lemon tree.
I had no idea that these plants smell so good.
I have to keep sniffing and sniffing every time I walk by it.
Some little lemons are already growing.

Pretty soon I'll be able to make my own lemonade!

Have a great weekend!

Irish Hiking Scarf Complete!

Guess what? I finally finished my Irish hiking scarf!
Woo hoo!

I love the end result although I wish that it had been longer. I even scoured the Internet to find more of the yarn but could not
I made it out of Hunter Green Tara by GGH.
Here it is all curled up :)
Seeing it finished makes me happy!
The pattern is free from Hello Yarn.
I finally decided that it was time to venture away from making scarves, seeing as how that is all I have ever knitted before and so last weekend I took a basic sock making class at Hill Country Weavers in Austin which was a total blast, more on that later though, since I want to do a proper post about it but haven't finished both socks yet...
I have to get back to studying for my midterms so tata for now!
